Welcome to Three Zero Avaiation
Setting the Heading for Your Flying Future
Become a Pilot
We can arrange flight training programs for the following certificates and ratings:
Private Pilot (PPL)

Gaining your Private Pilot Licence (PPL) is an exciting and achievable goal for anyone passionate about flying. Training is delivered by experienced, qualified instructors using well-maintained light aircraft, and includes both practical flying lessons and ground school to prepare you for the required exams and assessments all under the Civil Aviation Authority’s standards. With commitment and structured instruction, many students progress from their first flying experience all the way to holding their own pilot licence, ready to fly light aircraft confidently and safely.
Requirements
-
Be at least 17 years old to hold a PPL (you can start training earlier and fly solo from age 16)
-
Hold a valid CAA Class 2 Medical Certificate issued by an approved Aeromedical Examiner
-
Complete the required flight training, typically a minimum of 40 flying hours, including:
-
Pass all the theoretical knowledge exams.
-
Successfully pass a practical skills test with a CAA-approved examiner
-
Demonstrate safe decision-making, aircraft handling, and a good understanding of aviation procedures
Private Pilot (NPPL)

The National Private Pilot Licence (NPPL) is a UK-specific pilot licence regulated by the Civil Aviation Authority that allows you to fly UK-registered light aircraft within UK airspace under Visual Flight Rules. The NPPL can include class ratings for different types of aircraft such as simple single-engine aeroplanes, microlights or motor gliders, and provides a recreational flying pathway with less stringent medical requirements than a full PPL. While it’s more limited in scope — restricted to UK-registered aircraft and UK airspace — it remains a popular choice for leisure pilots who want to enjoy flying in the UK and build their skills in a light aircraft environment.
Requirements
-
Be at least 17 years old to hold the licence (you may start training earlier and fly solo from age 16)
-
Complete a Pilot Medical Declaration (PMD) confirming you meet the required medical standard (similar to a UK car driver medical)
-
Undertake the required flight training, typically a minimum of 25 flying hours for aeroplanes.
-
Pass the required theoretical knowledge exams.
-
Successfully complete a practical skills test with a CAA-authorised examiner
-
Various class ratings can be added to this licence to allow you to fly different types of aircraft, and if you later decide to progress further, your training can be credited towards a conversion to Private Pilot Licence (PPL) level under UK Civil Aviation Authority regulations
